CUCP 2026: Event Phishing & Fraudulent Email Awareness

The Credit Union Collection Professionals (CUCP) Summit, taking place May 12–14, 2026 at the Tampa Marriott Water Street in Tampa, FL, will bring together leaders from across the credit union collections industry. As attendance continues to grow, events like ours can become targets for phishing and fraudulent outreach.

Attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and speakers should remain alert and rely only on official CUCP communications for registration, hotel, and event-related information. Staying informed helps protect your organization, your data, and your overall Summit experience.

Phishing & Fraudulent Emails: What You Need to Know

Phishing scams are increasingly targeting conference participants with:

  • Fake attendee list offers
  • Fraudulent hotel booking messages
  • Deceptive emails requesting payment or personal information

These messages often appear legitimate. They may include event branding, logos, and language that closely resembles official CUCP communications.

Many of these contacts are generated using publicly available information from websites, social media, or exhibitor listings.

Common red flags:

  • Emails from unfamiliar or non-CUCP domains
  • Offers to purchase attendee or exhibitor lists
  • Urgent requests for payment or sensitive information
  • Messages from individuals not affiliated with CUCP (example: anna.williams@exhibitorpointe.com)

CUCP does not sell or distribute attendee lists to third parties.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Only trust emails from CUCP Board Members (credit union email addresses) or admin@cucpros.org
  • Do not click links or download attachments from unknown senders
  • Do not purchase attendee lists from third parties
  • Do not share personal or payment information with unsolicited contacts
  • Verify any questionable communication before taking action

If you receive a suspicious email or are unsure about a communication:

  • Disregard the message
  • Report it to admin@cucpros.org for verification

We recognize this can be frustrating and are actively working on ways to reduce and prevent these incidents.

Your awareness is key to keeping the CUCP community protected.

We appreciate your attention and look forward to seeing you in Tampa.
